Jayanth has been an avid reader since childhood. It began with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, and he would rather not say how many times he reread the scene where Tom kisses Becky Thatcher. In time his reading widened to romance, mystery, action, science fiction and a good deal of non-fiction.
In the middle of 2022, at the age of thirty-seven, he met Jane Austen for the first time. The effect was so profound that, having never written a page of fiction, he finished his first Jane Austen Fan Fiction novel within a year. Insults came out under the name Jayanth S in December 2023, to widespread acclaim. Two more followed under the name Jayanth Subramanyan: Compromise(s), another bestseller, and Comeuppance, both similarly received.
Then came By Patience and by Paper, a single story told across three volumes: By Fable and by Fact, By Trade and by Trust and By Harbour and by Hearth. It is the longest thing he has attempted, and the first he could not finish in one volume. The note at the end of Comeuppance hoped it might prove the third of many. He is glad to report that the hope is holding, and that he has no present intention of stopping.
Jayanth is an IT professional and a meditation enthusiast, and lives with his family. He finds that the two keep each other in balance: the fast pace of technology on one side, the quiet of introspection on the other.
